LANGLADE COUNTY CROSS-COUNTRY SKI TRAILS

Bear Paw Outdoors Cross-Country Ski Trail


General Information:  The trail is maintained by Bear Paw Outdoors. The 8 miles of trails are groomed for skating and classic skiing.

 

Location:  From the intersection of Hwy 64 and Hwy 55 in Langlade travel 3 miles south on Hwy 55 and we are on the west side. The Trail Head and parking can be found behind the restaurant.

City of Antigo Cross Country Ski Trail

General Information:  This 2-mile trail offers gently rolling terrain. 

Location:  The trail can be accessed from North Elementary School, the north end of Virginia Street or Bryne Street.

The trail is in poor condition.  Needs tracking, which should be completed late this week or early next week.

Gartzke Flowage Cross-Country Ski Trail


General Information:
 
This 5.5-mile long trail designed for all ability levels groomed for both classic and freestyle is a local favorite. The area boasts a diverse topography with high ridges that drop sharply in some areas and gradually into the flowage basin in other areas.  Trails are well marked.  Facilities include a parking area, restrooms, and a recreation shelter. 


LocationFrom Antigo, travel east on County F. Once past County S intersection continue East on fifth Avenue Road 2 more miles.

The trails at Gartzke were lightly groomed on Monday, Feb.22.
 
Trails are all in good to very good condition.  Pick your days according to temperature and days after light snow.


Jack Lake Cross-Country Ski Trail


General Information: Jack Lake Cross-Country Ski Trail: Part of the Veterans Memorial Park, this trail offers nearly 15 miles of groomed trails for all skill levels.  The gently rolling terrain is a favorite for freestyle skiers. However, if you are up to the challenge, there are loops with steep hills and sharp turns. Facilities include a parking area, restrooms and a warming shelter.


Location:
  From Antigo, Head North on Hwy 45 to Hwy J.  Turn east on Hwy J and travel approximately 2 miles.  Trailhead will be on your left.

Trail was groomed and tracked on February 4th.  Most of the system is in excellent skiing condition.

Kettlebowl Cross-Country Ski Trail

General Information: 4.3-mile long trail includes three loops. The topography includes high ridges and rolling hills. The first part of the trail is a gradual climb followed by a loop along the Ice Age Trail and highlighted at the end by an exciting downhill run. Facilities include a parking area, restrooms and a chalet with concessions.


Location:
  From Antigo Travel North on Hwy 45 to Hwy I.  East on Hwy I to Hwy 52 approximately 8 miles.

Trails are groomed and tracked every Thursday.  The trail is in excellent skiing condition.


Maranatha Cross-Country Ski Trail


General Information: This trail is maintained by the privately-run Silver Birch Ranch but is located on public land is a 4-mole system of interconnected loops.  One of these loops crosses Rose Lake.  Before skiing this loop, check ice conditions on the lake.  This system is groomed for traditional skiing and is marked for beginning, intermediate and advanced skiers. 

 

Location:  From Langlade, follow Hwy 55 about 4 miles North to Sawyer Lake Road (FR 2122). Turn right and go about 2 miles.  The parking area is on the right (south) side of Sawyer Lake Road.

The trail is hard packed and slightly icy.  They are all parallel groomed and have 1/2 inch of packed powder on them. 


Moccasin Lake Cross-County Ski Trail


General Information: 
5.5-miles long this trail system offers a variety of trails designed for skiers of all abilities and groomed for both classic and freestyle.  If you enjoy dynamic terrain, then check out three fun hills: the Luge, the Expressway, and the Muskellunge. Facilities include a parking area, restrooms and warming shelter with firewood and tables. 


The snowshoe trail has been expanded. A trail was developed going south just past the wildlife/camping area. Where this trail meets the Pine Lake Road, there are plans to develop another trail back north to the original trail to allow one loop without going on the road.

Location:  From Antigo, travel North on Hwy 45 approximately 18 miles to Moccasin Lake Road. West on Moccasin Lake Road to Bear Road.  South on Bear Road one mile to trail head.

DOWNHILL SKIING

Kettlebowl Ski Hill

General Information:
  The facility offers five runs with five tow ropes, plenty of parking, concessions and chalet featuring restrooms, and a large warming area with a fabulous view of the slopes.

Location:  From Antigo, travel east on Hwy 64 to County Road S/WI-52E.  Turn left and travel approximately 8 miles.  Kettlebowl is located on the right.  Watch for sign.

Hours of Operation:  Weekends noon - 4 p.m.

Rate:  $5 Adults
          $3 Students 13 and up
          $2 Ages 6 - 12
          Ski Free Ages 5 and under

Kettlebowl Ski Bus Schedule:

The bus leaves The Antigo Rental Store located at 1906 Neva Rd at 11:30 a.m. and returns approximately at 4:15 p.m.  Saturday's Only.
