Winter Trail Reports for Langlade County

Snowmobile Trail Report
  • Trail update as of March 14, 2024
With the lack of snow and cold weather all winter, Langlade County's funded snowmobile and winter ATV trails will not open during the remainder of the 2023-24 season, regardless of any potential snowfall by March 31.

The Langlade County Snowmobile Ordinance prohibits snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles from operating on the trails when the trails are officially closed.
We thank the clubs, volunteers, and landowners who make our trail system possible. We look forward to next winter for a more successful snowmobile and winter ATV season.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKI TRAILS:

Gartzke Flowage Recreation Area Cross-Country Ski Trail

  • Trail update as of February 20, 2024
Due to prevailing and anticipated weather conditions, the current state of the Gartzke Cross Country Ski Trails is deemed unfavorable for skiing, and it is strongly advised to refrain from skiing on them.

Please note that the Antigo Bike and Ski Club has decided not to continue grooming the cross-country ski trails for the remainder of the season. Insufficient snowfall, elevated temperatures, and ongoing logging operations on the northern section of the property influence this decision.

Nonetheless, the trails remain open for public use. It is recommended to check for any potential temporary closures that may occur periodically.

For further information regarding the logging activities affecting the trails, interested parties are encouraged to refer to the provided public service announcement.

The Moccasin Ski Trail is open for hiking and biking. With the warm weather, the base is gone, so the ski trail grooming is done for this season. Due to drought conditions, low areas are not filled with water, and the trails are in good condition currently. The gates are closed to the ski trail and the horse trailer parking area to prevent ATV, UTV, or vehicle damage. The horse trailer parking area will be opened once the area dries.
Skijoring is allowed on the ski trail. Winter fat biking is permitted on the snowshoe trail but not the ski trail. Winter fat biking is also allowed (not on the ski trail).

The south segment of the snowshoe trail from E to F was not logged this summer and remained closed due to large trees across the trail. The logging job on the northeast area of the ski trail has not been started, should be done during the summer, and will not affect the ski trail this season.
